When posting on the CFRSR Forum please adhere to the following:
First and foremost, please apply the basics of Netiquette. The internet is now a part of daily life and if one chooses to use it as a platform for discussion, it really behooves you to understand the basics of online communication. Without going into a tirade on chat rooms, discussion forums, and e-lists, try to understand that it's probably best to lurk and observe to gain a familiarity with the "tone" of the group. One hopes that a group is open and cordial to new members, but on the other hand, a newbie to a group should respect and appreciate that they are enjoying the fruits of someone else's labor. Just because you join up, make some friends and enjoy yourself by making a dozen posts every hour, doesn't mean that the group is now yours. Likewise, long standing members have to understand that by keeping a forum open to the public the group is going to evolve and sometimes take new directions.
The best communities are communities of like-minded individuals. Therefore, we have certain guidelines that state the expectations we have on this board and the standards we want to set in order to set ourselves apart from other forums and have an environment that is conducive to learning.
Please introduce yourself in the NEW MEMBER Introductions Forum. We’re interested in who you are, where you are, your experience or interest in bikes so post up! It’s just like meeting people in person. You introduce yourself and shake hands. Trying to sell stuff is not a good way to introduce yourself to the group or encourage members to respond to your posts.
Please post your thread in the correct forums. The different sub-forums exist for a reason, please USE THEM. We understand that sometimes, you want maximum exposure for your important post. CFRSR isn’t that big, your post will be seen. Posting everything in the Open Forum doesn’t help in giving other sub-forums exposure. Your post will be moved to the correct forum if it we feel it's more appropriate elsewhere.
We recognize that some of our members also sell motorcycles or motorcycle accessories as a profession. CFRSR will not be held liable for items sold here nor do we endorse any item there within the for sale pages. Buy or sell at your own risk.
Many topics have been discussed over and over at length. There is a lot of relevant and useful information on the board. Please use the Search function before posting a question, which might be a common question that has already been answered. Examples: what oil to use, tire pressure, what to bring to a track day, countersteering, etc. We encourage you to ask questions, but a little research never hurts.
Post-whoring should be minimized. It’s not an effective way to gain Bike Parts or gain friends. A more effective way is to post a relevant topic that is of interest to everyone. Please contribute something useful to the community.
Problems between members
Jumping into a thread and dissing somebody doesn't do anything but upset people and put others on the defense. If you can't say it nicely, then inform a moderator so that they can handle it or TAKE YOUR DISCUSSION TO PRIVATE MESSAGE. Similarly, we will not tolerate posts designed to denigrate or insult the members, moderators, or administrators of other boards. If you have a problem with another board, address the problem with the admin of that board.
We strongly discourage personal relationship matters being discussed on the board especially if it involves CFRSR members who are couples. This not only creates tension between the couple, but it also creates tension amongst the couple’s friends and it creates opportunities for other people to cast judgment and things can get ugly. This doesn’t create a positive environment for yourself or your riding buddies. Please take your personal matters off-line.
If you would like to post race results (AMA/WSBK/MotoGP, etc) and discuss it in the Racing Forum, please put SPOILER in your thread title. There are many who may have not yet seen the race so please don’t spoil the excitement for them.
We encourage open, intelligent discussion and welcome your comments concerning the operation of this board and how we might improve. However, we will not tolerate posts clearly designed to antagonize the administrators or moderators of this board or to foster acrimony between the members of this board and those who moderate it.
NOT WORK SAFE ITEM Postings
Pictures containing nudity, sexually explicit, or sexually suggestive material will NOT be tolerated in open forums other then HUMOR _NOT WORK SAFE forum. A lot of members browse the forums at work and each company has its own set of Internet policies, most of which prohibit accessing this type of material. Also, many members' families view these forums. If you post any material you feel may not be work safe (loud sounds, loud music, etc.,) please label the thread “NWS” (NOT WORK SAFE.) We reserve the right to remove anything we deem unfit for the board. These rules apply to avatar pictures and material included in signatures as well. DO NOT {POST NUDITY DIRECTLY ON THE SITE!!! PERIOD!!!! Any nude pix place directly within a post (read as not posted as a link and labeled exactly what it is will be REMOVED ASAP and the poster will be givin a Warning. Future postings of the same may end with your account being deleated.
Disciplinary procedures:
CFRSR uses a system of progressive discipline which employs a point system. The three basic steps are: moderated post and warning, removal of post and warning, and banning. A member receives 1 point for each warning, and 3 points for each warning. Upon reaching 3 points, the member is banned for a time determined by Admin. Members who receive frequent bannings, or members who register under a pseudonym, may be banned indefinitely. The administrators and moderators reserve the right to accelerate or bypass this progressive process as needs dictate.
Following these simple rules will ensure you and everyone on these forums will have a pleasant experience.
