CFRSR Group Riding rules
CFRSR was founded to gather local riders and some not so local and allow them a way to form rides, track days and events all the while trying to remain as safe as possible for those around you and those you come in contact with on the highways.
1. Members are encouraged to take some type of motorcycle training if they are new to motorcycle riding ie MRA Class, MSF Course
2. Members are highly encouraged to own and use the proper safety gear. This includes but is not limited to the following items: helmet, leather gloves, leather jacket or a full leather suit and riding boots.
3. Members will also maintain a road worthy sport bike. Do not show up to a ride with a tire, chain or anything else that has a high possibility of failing while out of town.
4. On group rides with many riders, the big group will split up into smaller groups that will ride a few minutes apart. Meeting places for lunch and rest stops will be arranged before the ride starts so that all members can enjoy the group and get to know the other members.
5. Members will be aware of the riders in their group and ensure that slower members are not left behind. Everyone in the group should be looking out for each other. A buddy system can be used and is encouraged.
6. Members should be aware of faster riders in their group that might be riding behind them, as well as fast riders must be cautious when passing a slower rider.
7. NO PASSING IN THE CURVES and no passing on the right. If you feel the need to race you can find a racetrack or drag strip.
8. NEVER CROSS THE CENTER LINE in the curvy sections of the road!!! This is very dangerous and looks very scary to people in cars, they think you are out of control and/or racing.
9. Members will ride in a staggered formation when riding in groups on straight roads. You can easily go to single file when the curves come up
10. Members will maintain a safe distance from the rider in front of them when riding through curvy sections of road.
11. When passing cars or other vehicles on two-lanes roads members will do this in the safest and least offensive manner possible. The group does not want to offend people in cars or other vehicles. Remember that many people have cell phones now and can call the highway patrol or local police very easily.
12. Always ride with reserve (skill). There is no need to ride at 100% on the street. There are too many things that can go wrong and if you are riding at 100% and something happens you have nothing left to deal with the impending problem.
13. Ride “The Pace” There is no need to go all out when street riding. Riding at the limit on the street with big groups and less experienced riders can lead to very bad things. You take the risk of getting the group and less experienced riders in over their skill level.
14. Members should never feel like they have to keep up with someone that is riding faster. The group will never attempt to leave someone behind and make that person ride at a level they are not comfortable with.
15. Members should try and maintain the posted speed limits in smaller towns when riding in groups. There is no need to draw attention to the group when passing through smaller towns.
Please help us keep our riders safe from harm.
